Wood Core Concept
We’ve perfected what nature gave us: wood— like always, there's no better core material for achieving the best flex performance in a ski. Adaptable, flexible and yet still stable - no other active material allows the skier such a compact and harmonious feel. A wooden heart beats in all VÖLKL ski ranges. Different WOOD CORES have been developed for all the different intended uses and characteristics of the skis. The type of wood, processing, size, length and width are different – these are all factors that affect the power, athleticism and flex of the skis.
XTD Sensor Wood Core
Constructions with a maximum proportion of wood consist of several sheet glued wooden elements that are made with a patented special process, so that the core of the wood can retract better. There are two additional wooden cores over each of the edges, for the entire length of the ski. The XTD SENSOR WOOD CORE offers an incomparably compact skiing feel with a harmonious flex. In addition, the stability of the ski also increases enormously, with optimum lightness and ease of turning.
XTD Wood Core
In the XTD WOOD CORE, a full wooden core has been integrated on both sides of the skis. This construction, with two unrelated wooden cores throughout the entire length of the ski, is responsible for the precise edge grip and greater stability at higher speeds. Both XTD WOOD CORE and XTD SENSOR WOOD CORE are the basis for the DOUBLEGRIP XTD technology from VÖLKL. The XTD WOOD CORE also comes in the ultra-light LT version in the women’s ATTIVA series.
Full Sensor Wood Core
A compact wooden core from the tip of the ski to the end ("tip-2-tail") gives power and energy - throughout the entire length of the ski. The optimum support for skiers who make their mark in the snow with a lot of feeling. This wooden core provides better shock absorption for direct or aggressive momentum and at high speeds, from the tip of the skis to the end. The TIP-2-TAIL SENSOR WOODCORE is used in the following ski ranges UNLIMITED, TIGER, RENTAL und FREESKI. A special light construction version of the TIP-2-TAIL SENSOR WOODCORE is used in the ATTIVA and MOUNTAIN ski series.
Dual Wood Core
The wooden core goes right through the width of the ski body and sits under the binding in the central ski area. Here, the DUAL WOOD CORE provides more power and a more pleasant and secure feel.
Wood Core
Using the simple WOOD CORE construction, a wooden core in the central binding area gives the ski additional shock absorption. The result: controlled skiing performance and easy turning from the middle of the skis. Silence and stability – regardless of the terrain and conditions.
