As passionate athletes and individuals, we are active in nature and experience the threats to our living spaces firsthand. As a passionate winter sports brand, we produce high-end products for use in nature. This requires first and foremost an intact, natural environment. We all live from nature and anything that threatens the environment therefore threatens us as well – both as individuals and as a company. We know that we – like other industrial firms – leave behind traces in the environment. Yet we don't simply accept this as a given. We have been working on improvement initiatives for years to reduce our footprint step by step.

Ispo Eco Responsibility Award for AMARUQ Eco

After Völkl won the first annual Eco Responsibility Award last year, the Straubing, Germany-based ski maker has been rewarded again in 2010 for being fully committed to the environment.
The new AMARUQ Eco touring ski claimed the top prize in the 'hardware' category. The winning ski, available only in a limited edition, embodies the company's various environmental initiatives.
The AMARUQ Eco represents a quantum leap forward in environmentally friendly and sustainable production. Its motto is 'wood only.' The traditional fiberglass wrapping around the core is replaced by one constructed completely from wood - an absolute innovation! The sidewalls and topsheet on the AMARUQ Eco are also made entirely of wood instead of plastics. A solvent-free linseed oil protects the surfaces. The various layers of wood are bound using a natural, regenerative organic wood resin in the place of the standard epoxy. The ski's base is composed of 100% recyclable material - as is the attachment system for skins. The edges are composed up to 60% of recycled steel.
