The huge and impeccable Superpipe in Tignes, France was the venue for the latest SFR tour stop. The athletes had to compete in windy and white out conditions as the weather did not want to play game all week. Nevertheless Marker Völkl freeski team athletes pushed through the adverse conditions with Nina Ragetti getting an incredible 2nd place in the Women’s and Fabien Meyer a respectable 3rd place in the Men’s competition.

There was no coincidence that the Superpipe in Tignes was of X Games calibre for the SFR tour stop there, as the competition acts as a qualifier for X Games wild cards for the upcoming Euro X Games, also held in Tignes. Bad weather meant that the first day of competition had to be postponed, and the athletes had to wait another day. The next day did not look much better, however the competition had to be held and so the athletes had to compete in less than ideal conditions.

After qualifying in 5th place, the Swiss man Fabien Meyer was ready for improvement on finals day. Dropping switch in to the pipe, Fabien’s run included a big switch 720, a flair and a nice 540. The Judges awarded him a 74.67 and the Bronze medal. This is his first time on the SFR podium and Fabien is super stoked to be up there and is looking forward to continuing his good form at the Austrian Open.

The Ladies final was of a very high calibre even with the wind and the bad visibility. Marker Völkl Freeski team member Nina Ragetti put together an impressive run in the finals to fend off all but one of the other competitors. Her run included a smooth 540, alley-oop 360 and a super technical switch 720. The judges awarded the 18 year old a 73.33 and the silver medal only 2.3 points behind the French Marie Martinod. So all in all, it was yet again a very successful competition for the Marker Völkl Freeski team, congratulations to the young guns for stepping it up in the difficult conditions.
