It was a history in the making when Birk Ruud won the World Cup Big Air in Copper Mountain. Claiming his 11th World Cup win to now have the most Freeski competition wins in World Cup history.
Kicking off the Slopestyle World Cup season, Birks Ruud wins the event in Stubai, Andri Ragettli places 2nd. In the women's Grace Henderson took 3rd.
Birk Ruud from Norway stepped it up in front of a huge crowd to take the season’s first victory at the World Cup Big Air in Chur. His incredible 2nd Jump secured his victory. In 4th place was local favourite Andri Ragettli and Hannes Rudiger in 5th.

The World Cup Big Air Season Kicks off in Chur with Birk Ruud on the podium.
After a difficult season, Alice Robinson ends the season 20/21 with a great victory. As already published in our news, Alice Robinson finished second in Jasna (SVK) two weeks ago.
The tension was high as it was not until the final run that Andri stepped it, putting together a flawless run to clench the GOLD medal in the Slopestyle World Championships.
After a mixed season, the 19-year-old from Pitztal, who initially finished seventh in the first run, achieved a sensational third place in the slalom and finished sixth in the giant slalom. He was just seven tenths of a second behind the winner Benjamin Ritchie (USA).
... of the MDV Race Team at Jasna - Alice Robinson back on the podium! On Saturday Martina Dubovska from Czech Republik achieved a great 8th place and Emelie Wikstroem (SWE) achieved a good 15th place in the slalom race. On Sunday it was an even better day for our women, especially for Alice Robinson.

In the Big Air event on Saturday Andri Ragettli claimed his first ever GOLD medal at the X Games, turning his childhood dream into reality. Nick Goepper took the GOLD medal in the slopestyle event the following day.

The first giant slalom for the women after a short Christmas break took place on December 28th in Lienz, Austria. The MDV team included Mina Fürst Holtmann, who had recently celebrated her first podium in Courchevel, New Zealander Alice Robinson, who had started the season with a first place in Sölden, Tina Robnik from Slovenia and from Sweden Ylva Staalnacke ,
Birk Rudd the young up and coming 19 year old rider from Norway took the win at the Big Air World Cup in China.
Already in the first races of the season, the Norwegian showed that she is quite able to compete in the front row of the World Cup circuit.
What a weekend in Val d'Isere! After the race, which was scheduled for December 14th, was postponed several times due to the stormy weather and in the end cancelled, the spot in the French Alps turned out to be a lot more welcoming the next day.

The great final of the 7th Freeski World Cup Corvatsch went down at Silvaplana in the Engadine in Switzerland today and the Andri Ragettli took the win in the men's and Silvia Bertagna took 3rd place in the ladies.

It was a day to remember, Markus Eder being crowned the 2019 Freeride World Tour Champion at the Xtreme Verbier. The world title was not guaranteed for Markus going into the Finals, with Kristoffer Turndell within reach of the title. However as it the day unfolded it was Markus Eder who took out the win. The uncertainly and the pressure going into the day made it a very emotional day for Markus as he had been striving towards taking the title throughout the whole season.

In the men's Markus Eder took first place with an impeccable run stomping a stylish flatspin 360 and a transfer air. Tanner Hall placed 2nd and Tom Peiffer 3rd. The conditions for the event could not have been better with powder landings for all the riders.

Markus Eder took 3rd at the Xtreme Verbier, the final event on the Freeride World Tour and 2nd in the Overall Freeride World Tour Ranking.
Two of the world's best park skiers; Øystein Bråten and Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen joined up with Freeskier and Mountain Guide Stian Hagen to be mentored into backcountry skiing. They spent the week in Leivassbu lodge in the Norweigian, Jotunheimen mountains, to learn about avalanche safety and backcountry travel. Judging by the smiles on their faces, we will be seeing more of them outside the park in the future.
The Engadine Ski Marathon first took place in 1969. Around 900 participants back then took on the challenge and survived a 42 kilometer-long course, starting from Maloja and ending in Zuoz. Fifty years later, around 13.000 participants from over sixty countries travel to Switzerland in order to race, making the event the second biggest of its kind in the world.

Join Stian Hagen with Austin Ross and Nadine Wallner on a train journey across the Norwegian landscape in search of ski touring and beautiful scenery. Departing Oslo, the group connected to the world famous Flåm Railway in Myrdal to explore the local ski touring before departing to Bergen.
This was the first World Cup Big Air event for the season. The Big Air is located on a former site of Milan’s Expo and is one of the most exciting venues on tour, just 10km from the center of Milan. The riders drop in on a 40m competition ramp.

The Veteran of the Swiss slalom team Marc Gini announced his goodbye to his skiing carrer. The 32 year-old athlete from Graubünden is the last Swiss World Cup winner in the discipline.
Many of the world’s best female and male skiers came together for the grand finale of the Suzuki Nine Royals at Watles, South Tyrol, Italy on April 1st, 2017. Under a hazy sky, the women and men proved their creativity and technical prowess to the delight of cheering crowds and judges. Over the course of two jam sessions, judges determined the winners using a unique format: a combined score of two technical tricks and one style trick. After a week of photo and film sessions, it was Andri Ragettli (SUI, ski) and Coline Ballet-Baz (FRA, ski) who topped the podiums.
Stefano Gross impressed in the first run with a 1.15 margin by Micheal Matt and he found his pace in both runs and managed to hold claim a second place, only +0.30 behind the winner.

In super-G training in Saalbach, Austria World Cup skier Cornelia Huetter crashed. The 24-year-old Voelkl athlete suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in the right knee as well as a tear of the meniscus. The diagnosis was made by Austrian ski team doctor Torsten Walcher after an MRI and X-ray examination.
Madonna di Campiglio is the oldest Italian World Cup venue, as they hold a Slalom in 1966/67, the year of the foundation of the World Cup. 50 years later, the event is still running and attracting thousands of people for the traditional night race on 22nd of December.

This past January, Völkl was honored to welcome a pair of unusual Afghani athletes, Alishah Farhang and Sajjad Hosseini, to the factory in Straubing. The two are chasing the same dream: representing their country at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
