Holtmann and Robinson show strong 2nd run in Lienz and both place in the top 10
The first giant slalom for the women after a short Christmas break took place on December 28th in Lienz, Austria. The MDV team included Mina Fürst Holtmann, who had recently celebrated her first podium in Courchevel, New Zealander Alice Robinson, who had started the season with a first place in Sölden, Tina Robnik from Slovenia and from Sweden Ylva Staalnacke ,
The Norwegians traditionally spend the Christmas holidays at home. Has that been the reason that Mina Fürst Holtmann was not yet in top form in the first run and only finished in 14th place? Even Alice Robinson, who had celebrated Christmas with the whole family in London and was at the gate in Lienz for the third time in a row with bib 15, could not drive into the top positions in the first run (18th place after the first run). Only Tina Robnik from Slovenia showed a strong performance in the first run and made it into the top 10. But Holtmann and Robinson only seemed to have warmed up now and both returned to their usual performance in the second round. Unfortunately, this time it wasn't enough for the podium, but for a very good 6th place for Holtmann and 9th place for Robinson. Robnik unfortunately could not maintain her strong performance from the first run and ended up in 26th place. “I did some progress and my first run is giving me a confidence that things are going in right direction. Unfortunately, my second run didn’t go as planned – sometimes old mistakes and fears are coming back and I will keep work on to get rid of them” she wrote on her Instagram channel. That's the right attitude!
