Andri Ragettli wins Slopestyle World Cup Event in Laax, Birk Ruud places 3rd

Reigning Slopestyle World Champion and local hero Andri Ragettli wins the Laax Freeski Open, Birk Ruud places 3rd

It was a home victory for Laax’s own Andri Ragettli in the men’s finals.

The weather conditions were tough for all the riders.  Andri had a solid first run that kept him in the lead throughout the finals.

The win was the 11th of Andri’s career, and put him back in a tie with Volkl team member Birk Ruud to top the all-time freeski World Cup victories rankings. Andri now has the yellow bib as the leader of the slopestyle World Cup conpetitions ahead of Birk Ruud.  Birk Ruud, however, remains atop the freeski overall rankings with Big Air and Slopestyle combined.

“It’s super special to be able to get my 11th World Cup win here in Laax,” Ragettli said after the awards ceremony, “This is where I learned to do my first 360, my first backflip, and to get the win here with family and friends watching is just amazing.”

"This is the first time that freeskiing has been part of the LAAX Open and to win right here is just incredible and mega awesome! I had to adapt one or two things because of the weather, but that's what makes a good skier, and I'm super stoked that my run worked out the way it did."

It the women's Grace Henderson took 5th place and Kirsty Muir 6th.  These results were based on their qualification runs as they did not get to do the finals due to the unfavorable weather conditions.
