About George Rodney
For Big Mountain Freeriding, it doesn’t hurt to have a broad skiing background and George Rodney is a perfect proof. The young American from Summit County in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado grew up in alpine racing where he was competing with the best of his age on a national level. However, in 2011 he decided to switch from alpine racing to the freeride department of “Team Summit”, a renowned ski academy for young skiers in Colorado, and it didn’t take long before the move paid off. In 2011 and 2012 he claimed several podium spots on junior and regular big mountain comps in North America, winning both the JFT and IFSA Tour in 2012. Following a torn ACL in 2013, George returned even stronger to finish the American leg of the Freeride World Qualifier series as 3rd in 2014, thus qualifying for the Freeride World Tour 2015. With this great opportunity on the horizon, he moved to Salt Lake City where the 21-year-old studies at the University of Utah and is a sponsored skier in Alta.
