Ueli Kestenholz

When asking about Ueli Kestenholz, many people first of all think about the Snowboarder. You can't blame them as Ueli was not only the first ever Snowboarder to receive an Olympic medal but was a two-times World Champion and won the X-Games Boardercross two times.

Today Ueli is a Multisport-Athlete on snow, on water or in the air. Already as a kid he wanted to try any sport that fascinated him. So beside Skiing he was Skateboarding and Windsurfing and it was no surprise that he had to pick up snowboarding as soon as he saw the first Riders in Switzerland. Next came Surfing, Kitesurfing and Skydiving. After his 3rd Olympics in 2006, Ueli decided to stop competing to have more time for Freeriding. That's when he discovered Speedriding, the ultimate symbiosis between skydiving and freeriding. After a few try's with a snowboard he knew it made more sense to use skis instead. The new Generation of Freeride-Skis, the specially designed Speedriding-parachutes and the right technique opened up unbelievable runs and possibilities - true 3D-Freeriding. With his friend and Speedriding-Partner Mathias Roten he found PLAYGRAVITY. Their movie with the descent of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau has won several awards around the globe.

What is your favorite ski in 2012/2013 Collection?

Shiro

Why do you like this ski?

It's so versatile, good floatation but still nice control and it even carves on groomers...

What conditions do you use this ski for?

This ski works in any kind of conditions. I like it for speedriding because it's very light for its size, not too aggressive but has a nice drive and let's me vary the speed with ease...

What other skis in the 2012/2013 collection do you ride?

Kuro and Nunataq

Can you tell us a little about each pair of skis, and about what sort of conditions you use them for?

Kuro for the really deep days, Shiro simply every day and Nunataq as my Freeride-Touring-Ski

What about bindings? What bindings do you use?  And where do you mount them?

Jester, Duke and Marker Tour. Classic Mount as I don't want too much weight in the front when I come in fast on my speedwing...

What DIN do you have your bindings on?

13
